Every spring, REI has two great sales, first the Member Sale when your annual dividends come out and then the Anniversary Sale through Memorial Day weekend. I love this sale because it’s that extra chance to snag any camping and summer gear at a discount before the summer outdoor season really kicks off! I keep a running list of the latest REI 20% off coupons. But what are the best deals and things to buy during these semi-annual sales? Here are my top finds in the Anniversary sale this May (otherwise known as the Memorial Day summer gear up sale), which runs May 16-26, 2025.
REI Anniversary Sale: My Top Picks
- REI Active Pursuits T-Shirt – $20.97 (30% off). The REI Swiftland Running Tees ($39.95 normally and $27.97 for the sale) are some of my favorite summer hiking and running shirts. When you need that shoulder sun coverage, but still super light and breathable! The style is redesigned for 2025, but I’m liking the color options for the Active Pursuits tees.
- MPOWERD Luci Solar String Lights – $30.98 if you use your REI Outlet 20% off coupon! I finally snagged these string lights in a sale last summer. They are so fun and if you get the multicolor option you can cycle through colors or have as white. The strand is short but we love the charging options and great for putting around your cooking or hang out area while camping. Especially in areas where there is a burn ban.
- Wild Rye Gelena Gel Bike Gloves – $30 (25% off). If you don’t have bike gloves yet, these Wild Rye ones are my favorite. A great fun item to use your 20% off coupon on if you don’t have any big ticket items on your list! You can also usually find last seasons colorways on sale at the end of summer if you want more of a deal.
- Nalgene 16oz water bottle – $6.98 – (50% off). This small Nalgene is my current favorite water bottle. Small and easy to stash in a bag and know it’s not going to leak! While huge insulated stainless steel water bottles seem to be the trend right now, I’m all for the small stashable ones!
- Skratch Labs Sport Hydration – $17.56 (with 20% off coupon). If you don’t have any big items you want to use your 20% off coupon on, restock your favorite snacks, hydration or backpacking meals! Skratch Labs strawberry lemonade flavor is my favorite electrolyte water.
- Smartwool Socks – 25% off. These sales a great time to snag a new pair of Smartwool socks. 25% off for the whole family.
- ENO Doublenest Hammock – $56+ (25% off). The best camping hammock out there. One of my favorite camping essentials for fun! And great for camping with toddlers and babies (hello nap station!)
- REI brand travel gear – $11.86+ (30% off). The REI sale is a great time to snag travel gear and bags to make your trips simpler. I love the roadtripper pod small bag as a toiletry bag. They also have some nice packing cubes and lightweight duffel bags!
- Co-op Cycles DRT 1.2 mountain bike – $799 (20% off). REI’s house brand is making some nice bikes these days. For those wanting to get into mountain biking, REI Co-op bikes are a great entry level pricing with good components! Also REI kids bikes are on sale.
- Thule Roof box or bike rack – The 20% off sales are a great time to get a big item like a bike rack, that you’ll be able to use all season! I can vouch for the Thule XTR T2 Pro bike rack and roof box. Reg price $800 (Sale $640). This might finally be the year we have to upgrade to the T2 Pro 2-bike add-on, as our kiddo has grown! $400
The REI sales are a great opportunity to save some money on checking off any items you need off your family camping checklist.
