The Danish and Swedish play and home giants of LEGO and IKEA are collaborating! They will release a LEGO storage collection and play set on October 1. This looks super exciting for LEGO and IKEA fans. (Raises hand). The IKEA Bygglek LEGO storage set boxes will be available online and in store Thursday, October 1, 2020 in Europe, US, and Canada. So mark your calendars.
IKEA LEGO storage set – the BYGGLEK collection
According to the news release, the collection will include 4 different items and sets. Including the storage boxes with LEGO studs:
- one set of 3 small boxes
- one medium size box
- one large box
- set of LEGO bricks – special edition 200 pieces
So if you got all the items available, that would be 5 boxes. (3 small, 1 medium, 1 large) and a LEGO set. And would cost about $50.
The BYGGLEK boxes are equipped with LEGO studs on the top and the front, kids can integrate the storage boxes as part of their LEGO builds. They can store their stories inside them, and proudly display their creations on top of them. “At IKEA, we always believe in the power of play. Play lets us explore, experiment, dream and discover.” said Andreas Fredriksson, designer at IKEA of Sweden, “Where adults often see mess, children see a stimulating creative environment, and BYGGLEK will help bridge the gap between these two views to ensure more creative play in homes around the world. Plus, the BYGGLEK collection match perfectly with other IKEA products, making it possible to have your children’s creativity becoming a nice and unique piece of decoration at home.”
IKEA LEGO COLLABORATION
I’m pretty excited about this release! It sounds like the prices will be between $10 – $15 for the boxes, and $15 for the LEGO set. After doing our own LEGO storage solution last year for Duplos. I’m sure we’ll be looking for tiny LEGO storage options really soon.
Happy shopping!
